Lightroom Preset or Photoshop PSD: How do I choose?

How do I Choose?

Now, with our new Lightroom Print Presets, we can offer Ashe Design customers drag-and-drop design templates that allow them to design custom collages, cards and more 100% in Lightroom.

However, these new Lightroom Print Presets aren't for everyone. Our new Lightroom Print Presets come with a lot of advantages related to time and efficiency, but they don't have the same level of detail or customization that our clients have come to love. That's why it's important to weight the pros and the cons of each file option and determine what works best for you. To help you determine which option is best for you and your workflow, we've created the following guide.

You Want Lightroom Presets if:

You Want Photoshop PSD Files if:

  • You want to design quickly and have your finished product in seconds.
  • You don’t want to bother with leaving Lightroom. You want to edit your images, design and print in one place.
  • You don’t want to modify the template in any way. You like the layout, colors, etc. just the way they are.
  • You're designing templates in front of your clients and you need a drag-and-drop solution to show them finished designs on the go.

  • You have time to invest in your design. You want to play with the design to make it uniquely yours.
  • You want to move around elements, adjust template colors, etc.
  • You want to add custom copy/text.
  • You either don’t use or are not concerned with staying in Lightroom.
  • You have the time to make detailed changes to the template for your clients.
  • Your designing away from your client and will show them the finished product.
We hope these lists helped you have a better idea of which templates will work best for you. We welcome your comments and questions. Please feel free to leave them below or send us an email to info@ashedesign.com
